I currently have Win XP pro on my system, an HP Pavillion 762n. I'd like to add Mandrake 9 in a dual boot setup, but I'm somewhat gunshy. I tried Linux a few years ago, and it was a big deal to do a dual install without rewriting the MBR. Is there a step-by-step in the Mandrake install where I can make sure that I don't screw up my XP install? Or any other tips you might offer?

Hi.
I've got Suse Linux 8.1 and WinXp on my PC. It works really fine. For installation you can just insert the boot cd and everything goes its way. But with Mandrake I have no experiences. Sorry.

I have XP and REDHAT8 in dual-boot, but used Mandrake9 before - and MDK is the better one !!! I got the easiest installation, I ever saw, with no errors at all - and XP running, just from startup.
MDK did the install in just 15 mins.

But if you wanna be in safe run, try with bootdisk first and use later on Mandrake Control-Center to install with LILO-Menu and if you are familar try as experienced user with GRUB-Menu.
