Have researched many resourses but have been unable to find a definitive how to guide. Is it even possible to dual boot these two OS's successfully?

There must be 500 web pages on that subject exactly. Might be 500 ways to do it also.

Basic ways include using bios to select the boot device. Using a third party boot or partition manager to select the boot device. Using native windows or linux's boot/partition manager to boot.

Since you are asking then I suggest you consider using a virtual machine to start. A virtual machine runs within the Host OS and can run both OS's at the same time. See VMplayer, Virtual PC and (darn I forget that new one) Virtualbox?? or QEMU.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
