Dual Boot Linux/W2K VMWare problem

Hello!

I have a fully working W2K/Mandrake 8.0 dual boot system working at the mo on my Dell Inspiron 5000e. Unusually, I use Boot Magic in my MBR to select between W2K and Linux and then LILO kicks in (on my hda5) to ask me whether I want to boot normal linux or failsafe etc...

Now I'm trying to get all this working with VMWare 2.0.3 with W2K as the host. Boot Magic kicks in fine, I select Linux and then I get:
"Preparing machine to load Linux" followed by a message box saying I do not have write access to "partition -1".

Now, I have enabled write access on my "/boot" "/swap" and "/" partitions so I would not expect it to need to write to anything else. Am I wrong on this matter?

Being the risk-taker that I am, I allowed this to be over-ridden which gave the text "LILO 21.7" and then it just hung.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Mark
