i have win Xp running on my pc right now and i like to use linux fedora core 3 in single drive that has two partition wich the xp pro is already installed can i do that? and also can i view my ntfs partition when im in linux? sorry but I'm new with this thanks

Do you still have unallocated space left on the device?
and if no are you willing to give up or shrink one of the partitions you have?

If you want to give GNU/Linux a go before having to resize partitions etc try a live CD distro such as knoppix. It boots straight from the CD with no need to install. You will be able to access your NTFS drives (read only unless you use something called captive) and if you like it you can use it to shrink your windoze partition and install it or any other distro to your hard drive. I'm pretty sure that qtparted (the graphical partitioning tool) supports resizing of NTFS partitions but I have never tried it myself. Some distros (such as the later versions of suse and mandrake?) support partition resizing during installation....I have never used fedora though.

with acable connection takes about 5 hours to get the iso.after you have download it the iso burn it to a cd
set your bios to boot from cd
insert your knoppix cd
and voila
linux
in a nutshell
good luck
PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW YOU FIXED YOUR PROBLEM THANKS

sorry i dont have any unallocated space all i have is two partition which are in ntfs.. and more thing if im running my linux how can i install other programs that i isually use on my xp I heard it can be done the specipfic program i want to install is chikka im from the smart.chikka.com

If you have no unallocated space then you
will have to resize one of your partitions.
You can use wine to run windoze
applications, don't expect it to work every
time though....and it can be a little buggy.
Better off finding a GNU/Linux equivalent.
