What is the purpose?

DSL is only 50MB. You can copy it to a thumb drive, copy to a CD or install it on the HDD. You can run it directly from Windows if you want. This stuff is all explained at the DSL website.

There are a few issues. One is that your old system may not support booting to a cd. If it does support booting it may not support isolinux. Further it may not support CD-R's and almost not at all CD-RW's. (the older drives could only read pressed cd's).

Try making the boot floppies for that distro. Then you follow the universal installer or the included installer.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

It's not that old a system and should boot from the CD, and yes - RTFM - DSL is a live version and need not be installed

Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and others. Their fear is only their inability to face what is real.

FWIW I always butn bootable CDs at the slowest possible speed. Works better with older CD drives, and since DSL is so small it won't take long to boot.
Nifty and versatile little distro.
