If you think linux is unreliable, nobody is forcing you to use it.

You ATI card can be supported under linux,

Why blame a GNU-Linux OS? You can pay for it if you want!!

ATI has a step-by-step install guide for Linux Radeon drivers on their web site. Your NIC is probably supported and you just don't have it configured correctly.

"linux looks so unrealiable"- Linux runs on many supercomputers, is used by large web hosting companies, and is used in embedded devices.

"barely anything is compatible"- Linux runs on Macs, Alphas, Sparc, MIPS, far-out stuff like PlayStation2 and Sega Dreamcast, and more. It ran on AMD's x86-64 CPUs before they even existed (using an emulator). Most PC hardware is supported in Linux even though most hardware manufacturers only write Windows drivers.

If you want something that works just like Windows 2000, use Windows 2000. If you want a better OS and don't mind learning some new ways of doing things, use Linux. I'm sure if all you had ever used was Linux, Windows would be confusing, but would you blame Windows then?

If you started using a Mac you'd be just as confused.
I'm sure if you were used to using Linux and switched to Windows you'd be just as confused too.

You have to be willing to learn if you're going to switch to ANYTHING. You had to learn windows didn't you?

Yep, I've stopped with microsoft since her '98 nightmare, but some months ago I needed to connect a windows XP box to Linux and was for a moment confused at the windows side...

I guess every serious player in the computing world supporting microsoft OSes is a big pro for ease of computing under windows.

I believe that windows is also designed to make the tasks most people want to do with computers as easy as possible. I think that this comes at the cost of less performance and less flexibility of the OS itself. But it's just an impression I have.

Nice graphical "wizards", which tell you what to do. What can be easier to understand?
But what's more flexible than using a script?

And our Command Line Interface... Some people seem to confuse it with MS DOS...

Don't be fooled by appearances and first glance impressions; Spend a little time and/or money to get to know the alternative before making judgements.

Thats the most absurd statement I've ever heard about Linux, that too from a guy who doesn't even know what Linux is. People with such an attitude should simply use micro_s_h_i_t products.
btw, I'm sick of people refering to Linux when its not at all related to Linux. So for the hundredth time, Linux is the _kernel_.
