Comment: hi, i just installed linux and everything seems to work fine. however the cable modem doesnt work so i cannot connect to the internet. im a real newbie to linux so.... my modem name is 'Ambit USB Cable Modem' from NTL (UK broadband). I need drivers or a ways to fix the problem. I have a disc with the drivers on it but it only works for windows not sure how to work it for Linux if it will work????

Reply: (edit)Hi, As far as I am aware, the USB drivers only exist for windoze. Is this the modem with a network socket on the back ? If it is not, I think NTL will replace it for a newer model free, if you explain the problem. If it is, use a network lead to connect this to a network card on your linux box and tell the linux box to use DHCP. There is no need for a hub or switch. Issue the command /etc/init.d/network restart and you should be able to browse the web.
