I think that it is just sad that companies the size of Lexmark and HP can't even provide drivers for their printers to run in Windows 2000, let alone Linux. I hate printers. Although I must admit that I have seen some HP models perform BETTER under Linux than Windows (because you can control certain options from the command line without having to actually touch the printer).

Calispell,
Most of lexmarks printers are usuable in linux, only the 32, and z12 seem to be a problem.
But yeah surely it cant be that hard to make them, or you linux guys seem happy to do it yourself, they should just release the source code, i mean they aren't going to loose money by doing that.

Really ? Lexmark printers are good in Linux ? Maybe that's because Lexmark is technically still a part of ... IBM !

Lexmark Z32 really works with Linux:
1. load driver (lexmarkz32-english_UK.tar.gz)
from lexmark
2. tar --get --unzip --file .....
3. rpm -i lexmark......
maybe you should install some libraries first
4. now you have an updated /etc/printcap and the necessary directories in /var/spool and
all modules in /usr/share/lexmark
5. printer should work now with ascii, postscript, pdf and raw (if you use samba)

6. if not: ask me

good luck
