I got an aspire one laptop a few days ago. It broke so I
rung up acer. They said I will have to use the recovery
disk to reinstall linux on it. I did exactly what they said
and it turned my xp laptop into Linux and my aspire one
laptop is still broken. The shop I got it from are not giving
me a refund or a replacement when it should not be
breaking after having it for two days and there policy
clearly says in the unlikely event ur electrical goods stops
working they are happy to replace, refund or repair it for
free. They said they will have to send it off to acer and it
will cost. They have pissed me off and I've gone from two
working laptops to having none working how they should
and I followed their instructions. I have not got an xp
recovery disk. How can I get rid of linux and get xp back.
Thanks

You need a disk with XP on it.

If you don't want to get service from the store or acer then buy a retail xp cd.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

I think you can still do it the old fashioned way. Buy XP and get an activation code with your purchase. Along with the activation code you get free updates and other enhancements from Microsoft along the way; not sure what comes with Linux. Part of the problem with open-source software is the support issue. Beware of saving too much money!

You need to explain a little better than that.

"I got an aspire one laptop a few days ago. It broke so I rung up acer."

What do you mean "it broke"? Did you drop it? Did the system crash? Did you try making changes & end up trashing the operating system? Describe the problem & if you can, when & how it happend.

"They said I will have to use the recovery disk to reinstall linux on it. I did exactly what they said and it turned my xp laptop into Linux and my aspire one laptop is still broken."

That makes absolutely no sense. If you have 2 laptops, one with Linux & the other with XP, I'm fairly sure Acer didn't tell you to install Linux on the XP laptop. That's what it sounds like you did. And if you did do that, you have no one to blame but yourself.

"The shop I got it from are not giving me a refund or a replacement when it should not be breaking after having it for two days"

If YOU are the one that "broke" it, they don't have to give you a refund. The shop is NOT responsible for any changes that you made & you shouldn't expect them to be.
