Ok Im a Linux newbie and dont have the first idea on how to run a DNS server. I have looked around but all i see is directives for named. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction. Maybe webpages with good content on this subject or anything.

Instead of going thru all the steps here,
it would be much better if you print out
the HOWTO for this subject. You can find
all the docs at http://www.linux.org

you will most likely be using BIND DNS server. check out http://www.isc.org/products/BIND/
