Hi,
I'm a recent linux-re-convert i.e. i used it back in the days of kernel 2.0 but have only recently reinstalled.
I am trying to configure my D Link 120+ USB Wireless card but it doesn't seem to co-operate.
DLinks website seems to suggest the wlan project code should work, but it doesn't.
equally the ndiswrapper project should work (it does with DWL 120b) but doesn't.
I can load the (ndiswrapper) driver, it records driver and hardware present then when i run modprobe it works... i.e. says the driver is loaded and the usb bit is also loaded...
but does not create an interface (either wlan0 or eth1) ... any ideas??

Let's get some more info. You know the chipset this thing uses? What does lspci and dmesg say about it? What distro/kernel are you using? Is it pcmcia or pci?

After successfully loading the module are you able to set an IP etc for the device (I'm guessing that you already have a NIC and that's why you assume eth1 instead of eth0), eg: # ifconfig eth1 192.168.0.10 broadcast 192.168.0.255 netmask 255.255.255.0 If the command is accepted then you should be able to start it with: # ifconfig eth1 up
