display wont sync or display way to big!!

cannot set xf86config. to sync on my compaq presario laptop model #1200 x106 does any one know what the sync and hor rate to use need help .

There is a problem with the video chipsets on
presario 1200 models. You get a default VGA mode 640x480 instead of 800x600 SVGA since the chipset is not probed correctly by the xf86setup.

Check out the video mode selections for Trident Cyberblade at this config file:
