I have a problem regarding my display. My monitor is LG studioworks 700s. When installing linux all goes well till the test display setting. Once the test setting button is depressed, the screen becomes blank and there is no display.once the installation is over, the bootup and other things are fine but i am not able to enter into the GUI. What must be done? When xinit is executed, a whole lot of errors messages appear, the most important one is that the display settings are not supported by the driver. Please advice. I am new to linux and therefore advice a little simpler please. Will i need to download some patch. If so from where and how to install the patch.

the central config file for the Xserver is /etc/X11/XF86Config.
most likely this file is just not properly configured.
boot to runlevel 1 by entering "linux 1" on the boot prompt and check your /var/log/XFree86.log and /var/log/kdm.log with an editor (like mcedit or vim) and post the errors

I got same kind of problem when I tried with RedHat Linux 7.3 on Studioworks 356A(I m not very sure this number is correct). So, I selected some generic monitor and completed the setup without clicking the "Test" button. Things worked fine!
