Comment:

I am a noob so I need help. I got a destination unreachable when I ping to WinXP from Linux using a WUSB54Gv4 wireless network adapter on both PCs. I already have the driver for this on both OS. WinXP is working fine with other network. What is the problem on my Linux?

What is the output of "ifconfig" and "iwconfig"? Are you able to see anything with "iwlist wlan0 scan"? Are you using DHCP or static IPs?

Can I ask for your YM or MSN or AIM so we could chat regarding this? That is if it's ok with you...

I used the rt25701.1.0 Beta 1 from http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Are you trying to connect through an access point or directly from one PC to the other? If the latter you have to put your wireless adapter into ad-hoc mode if you want to connect peer-to-peer.

# iwconfig rausb0 mode Ad-Hoc

Is some sort of gateway setting (i.e 172.16.168.1) on both machines needed ? I know I get this error message if one of our gateways/routers is down.

The results above are trying to connect to an access point. I also tried from PC to PC. I can't change the mode to ad-hoc. after I did iwconfig rausb0 mode ad-hoc, the mode still remained as managed. When I ping and at the same time did ifconfig, ifconfig showed no transmit packets.
