Hi frends i m a newbie (linux). i have mandrake 9.0. I can't put any icon on my desktop in KDE. When i try to put any icon on my desktop; it says "u do not have permission - check permissions" i know how to log in as root user but then ? how can i get permission to put icons on my desktop ?

Your KDE desktop should be in your home folder called "Desktop" and should be owned by yourself and have permissions rwx------ as in read, write and execute for owner and no permissions for anyone else. To change the ownership: # chown username /home/username/Desktop To change the permissions: # chmod 700 /home/username/Desktop
