Hi
I've just got myself a Creative Modem Blaster 56k external, thinking it would work with Linux...not havin much luck though!
I've plugged it all in (serial) and WinXP got it working straight away, no drivers needed. Redhat doesn't seem to detect it! At boot time when it checks for new Hardware, the lights on the modem flash so the serial port is working, but once redhat is started there seems to be no sign of the modem! Any ideas?
I really hope it wasn't a waste of money! I'm sure its not a winmodem!
Thanks
Rob

I bought another modem.
Look at my posts in this same forum, i had the same problem. Creative modems and redhat doesnt seem to fit well.
If you manage to make it work.. tell me Lol

If it's an external serial modem, all you should need to do is this, at a command line:
# ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/modem
(assuming it's attached to COM1; if COM2, change to ttyS1)
Then, set up kppp (or whatever app you are using to access your modem) to use /dev/modem as the modem (which is likely the default, anyway).
That's all you should need to do if it's truly an external serial modem. It's all I've ever needed to do.
Good luck.

how do you get an internal modem blaster v90 isa to work, I can't find any drivers for it and would like to use this modem if possible because I have linux set up as a server
