At a console, press TAB twice in quick succession to get a rough list of command available to you. (use shift&[pageup/pagedown] to scroll the console window up and down.
$ command --help often shows brief usage
$ man command will display the manual page for a command
$ info command will display the info page if available
$ apropos subject will list command associated with that subject.
