Comment:

Yall problably get alot of this, but here goes:
I need a mentor. I swear the more you know about computers the harder it becomes to find people willing to talk to you about it.
I would be absolutely thrilled if anyone with some knowledge emailed me back on this.

I just want to correspond through IM, or e-mail with someone in hopes of learning to use Linux over windoz. And hopefully a friend or two =)

Drop me an email and I will go into more detail...

Rather than emails and instant messaging, why not use this forum? Then others in the future may be able to search the web and find solutions to similar problems....

yes, google is good, however more of a tool than an interaction with people, no? Using it is how I found computing.net. thx
and thank you, too, 3Dave. I will use this forum.
It's just that I'm a total noob when it comes to Linux. I have 4 Linux disto's; MEPIS, Fedora Core 3, Mandrake 10.1, SUSE 9.1. I think I have Debian too.
I taught myself most subjects of computing thus far; ie: programming, networking, sys maintenance, etc... but I'm tired of tutorials and would like to actually chat with an advanced user who has some patience.

I know, I'll contribute to the Winblows side of things and get help in the Linux forums.

Thanx, and anyone can still email me. I'd be appreciative.

google will always answer you
google will always answer you immdiately.

google is interactive - when the response to your query doesn't quite match your intended question,
you can tune your query.

BTW, why do you have "4 Linux distos" - doesn't this complicate?

I have them because I guess I'm collecting them. I have SUSE 9.1 on my laptop because it has support for the AMD 64 bit CPU (none of the other disto's I own have that support) I use Mandrake 10.1 on two of my desktops on my LAN. The other disto's I got from buying Linux magazines =P Except Fedora Core 3, I got that with a HUGE book on Linux.
I went on a date with Google last night, it didn't even put out....

"AMD 64 bit CPU (none of the other disto's I own have that support)"

I have an AMD 64 desktop- Fedora Core 3/4 and probably most other disto's support AMD 64 with a "x86_64" version

" it didn't even put out." - where do you think the problem lies, dear brutus?
