Comment:

I need the connection string to connect me to a mysql database running on a Redhat server(remote server). I am using asp as my programming language and using apache to serve the pages from the linux server. The string should look something like:

"Driver={mySQL}; Server=mysql.domain.com; Port=3306; Option=0; Socket=; Database=Database; Uid=Uname; Pwd=Password;" (obviously i fill in the correct details)

but this doesn't work. Do i need to be more specific in my string. I am able to connect to the mysql database with no trouble using a myODBC driver from my pc(running XP). Does this driver need to be set up in a particular way on the Linux machine and is there a way of testing to make sure it works. Thanks for your time,
H

Have you set up ODBC on the linux box?
Alternatively have a look at File DSNs.
