Comment:

I have a rather interesting problem. After quite a deal of work I have finally got my copy of Ubuntu 9.04 up and running. The only problem is that I have a Netgear Rangemax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter (WN111) for my wifi. I have spent the entire day scouring the forums and have not found a idea that works.

I have installed:
KNetworkManager
NDisWrapper
NDisWrapper-utils
NDisGTK

I have gone through all of the steps. At this point I know that my Card's ID is: 0846:9000. When I do ndiswrapper -l I get
"WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper, it will be ignored in a future release.
netmw245 : driver installed
device (0846:9000) present"

But I get nothing about the hardware being present. On one of the many places I searched today someone provided a link to a .inf file driver for someone who had a matching ID as I do and I have been able to get that to install successfully. Each time I have started my WDisGTK I am given error "Unable to see if hardware is present".

Someone out there suggested that I do some mudo command or something like that and changed some value to be true instead of false and restart but that hasn't helped. I have seen others post that they only used wdiswrapper in the terminal and I have tried that and always end up at the same place.

My wired connection works without issue, it connects to eth0 each time without fail but I cannot even get it to attempt to connect to a wireless. Now, seeing that running a 30 foot cable from my room to the livingroom is not going to work for more than a temporary solution, I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas, or do I just need to go buy a wificard and hope it works?

Thanks!
-Ronnie

Blast it. I even went and found an install file unpacker and pulled every inf file and sys file out of the windows driver. I still cannot find a working driver.
