Are you using a foreign locale? Do you have the same problem with any other commands? Also, off-topic, but why do keep posting with Gentoo 1.4 as your OS then writing in FedoraCore 2? Those fields are there for a reason and the defaults can be changed in the "My Computing.Net" section.
