Hi:
May I know what is the command line for entering the display configuration? I am using FC6 because i think my graphic card configuration problem, so I cannot get into gnome or kde.

I want to know what is the command line in grub to change the display config?

Im not shure this is what you mean but if you want to go to text mode on startup you insert "3" after "ro" in the boot command line (i.e. kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.17-1.2187_FC5 ro 3 root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet). This takes you to run level 3 which is text mode.

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

In this file you can set drivers/preferences for the mouse, keyboard, monitors, videocards, dual-monitor configuration, etc.

You do not need grub at all for this, other than allowing it to boot as normal. From there login at the text prompt. Sudo edit the file I referenced.
$ sudo vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Vim is my preference, but any text editor should do fine.

If you post more about your hardware and what issues you are having a more specific answer may be available.

If startx works and you want the graphical login to start automatically on boot, edit /etc/inittab and change the line that reads:
id:3:initdefault:
to
id:5:initdefault:

...so "startx" doesn't work! You need to reconfigure your X server, try running "xorgconfig".
