Open mosix is what you are after:
http://openmosix.sourceforge.net/

Here are some HOWTOs:
http://howto.x-tend.be/openMosix-HOWTO/
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Cluster-HOWTO.html
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Beowulf-HOWTO/index.html

You may want to have a look at ClusterKnoppix first:
http://bofh.be/clusterknoppix/
I am running a 90+ node diskless cluster with it, just boot off the CD, setup and start the openmosix services and then any other machine booting either from a clusterknoppix CD or over the network via PXE and TFTP (most of the nodes I have don't have cdrom or hard drives) automatically joins the cluster.

There is also Chaos (http://www.purehacking.com/chaos/) and PlumpOS too (http://plumpos.sourceforge.net/)
