Comment:

Under Red Hat Linux 6.2, it was possible to change the IP address by editing /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, and then restarting the network service by saying "service network restart".
However, under 7.2, this adds the new IP address, but the earlier IP address also continues to remain, unless you reboot. Is there any way to change the IP address without rebooting ?

Thanks

there ist the ifconfig command.

shell>#ifconfig eth0 192.168.100.104 netmask 255.255.255.0 up

use #ifconfig eth0 down
