Comment:

CentOS 5.4 window in VirtualBox does not "dynamically expand", like it does with Ubuntu 9.04 or Windows XP. The reason for this is because the XRandR version is 1.1 and at least 1.2 is needed to support dynamic window resizing.

When I try to compile xrandr 1.3 from source however, I get an error:
"No package 'x11' found
No package 'randrproto' found
No package 'xext' found
No package 'xextproto' found
No package 'xrender' found
No package 'renderproto' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables RANDR_CFLAGS
and RANDR_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details."

Can anyone please help me get my xrandr version updated?
