I have a box with linux 7 installed, however now i can not login because during boot up it says the system logger has failed, therefore i never get the prompt. the other messages during boot up are that rpc has returned error 111, what should i do to solve this problem. dso i have to renstall?

Can you start up in maintenance mode? at the lilo prompt type: linux init 1 This should hopefully get you into single user mode from where you can try and see what the problem is.
