Sounds like typical Microsoft to me (won't play friendly with others, aka monopoly). Get rid of that Hotmail account and get another free webmail account.

What browser are you using? You might try using Opera, as it has an option to identify itself as Microsoft Internet Explorer (the default, I believe). This may trick Hotmail into allowing you to use its service within a browser window on your system.

Good luck.

I just successfully logged into my hotmail account with all of these combinations without any issues:

Redhat 9 with Galeon browser (gnome)
Redhat 9 with Netscape (gnome)
Morphix (forgot version, the latest one) with Konquerer web broswer

I noticed there's LOTS of cookies getting sent to my system when I log in and out. Check your browser's security settings.

It's DEFINITELY NOT an MS vs Linux & the world issue.

hi,
make sure you have installed openssl on your system.
if you are using mozilla or galeon, you need to install mozilla-psm
you can use "apt-get install" (as root) to install these. or go to freshrpms to download the rpms and install them using "rpm -i"
