can't login on localhost/localdomai

when I boot with GRUB into Linux it goes to a black screen that has localhost login I wait then it goes to the blue screen that has localhost/localdomain login it ask for username and password I type them in and keep getting incorrect username and password over and over even if I type user name in the first black screen that comes up the same thing I now Im new to linux this is my first try but I do know how to remember my user name and password can anyone tell me what's going on here?

Do you know your root password...you would have had to have typed it in twice during install. If so, try to login as "root" with that password.
Once in you can create a normal account for yourself to use on a day to day basis: # adduser username or if the user has already been added and you want to change their password: # passwd username
