Hey People,
I have this older IBM Thinkpad that I cannot get sound on. I know it works because it had Windows 98 on it when I got it and I had Windows 2000 on it after that and it worked with those OS's. The Windows OS's didn't run very fast on this machine so I thought I'd try Linux, so I put the latest version of Debian on it. Everything seems to work fine except for sound, I can't get any. I tried alsaconf and it seems to go through the motions but in the end I still have no sound. Can anyone help me get sound on my Thinkpad or point me in the direction for help? Thanks bunches.Larry

You have to find the chipset first.
Either use data from MS or lspci in linux.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
