I,ve tried to boot up using cd rom for a burned to cd Redhat 7.3(valhalla)i356 iso, and in system boot sequence is supposed to be: boot from D(cdrom-SC 140) then Removeable diskettes then hard drive. I only have
one hard drive C. I've got windows ME(FAT32) and lots of room for Dual boot with Linux. Eveything is supposed to be compatible however I can't boot up to the install using disc 1 that buddy burned for me. I,ve got Redhat 7.3 Disc 1,2,3 Disc 1,2,3 But it only boots up in windows, I can see that its looking in cd rom but not reading anything, obviously its not opening the cd.
Is there something I'm missing? I thought that these discs would act as bootup install, any suggestions please, thanx

Did you burn the CD's as an iso image ? because it should boot directly from the CD, maybe your buddy burned it incorrectly

Did you make the cdrom the first boot device in your system setup? When you boot your computer and it gets to the first screen press delete. Go to boot and change cdrom to first boot device, save changes and exit. After install change it back. Older systems or some laptops will not boot from cd, and that is when you have to create a boot disc. Good luck if that is your problem.

No, I'm having the same problem.
I have an image that I burned a couple of days ago and I installed it great on my old p100 (34x I don't know what brand),
but last night I put it on my P300 with a "creative 5x DVD pc-dvd dxr-2" it just would not boot no matter what I did to bios.
Now I also have a cd burner on the same machine. I'm planning on removing one of them and seeing what that will do.

Could it be that you burned it using a fast
burner and tried to read it using a slower
burner??? Try to burn it in 4X or something!Lawrence

Having the same problem as all those above, now trying to download 8.0, maybe that will work. But it was odd as it just does not want to recognize the file, i also have trouble trying to use the rawwrite. any sugestions.
