Ifconfg eth0 seems to suggest it recognizes my card, but anyway the boot messages say bringin up eth0 has failed. I guess it is not a module thing. I need to set up a connection using dhcp, and it seems it is just the dhcp part of it that just doesnt work. What to do? Done everything they tell me in howtos. it used to work in redhat 6.0 and it also works in windows on the same machine.

Try command "netcfg". You can make eth0 active at the bootup from there.
