I am using Samsung LCD monitor: SyncMaster 570V TFT and video card: asus V7100 magic and I have installed R.H 7.0. When I tried to run X window, it failed. When I tried to configurate the X window, I couldn't find my monitor model and the message "There was an error executing the X server in a probing mode. You should try configuring the video card manually" kept repeating.
How can I solve this problem?

I sort of had this problem, in that I didnt know exactly what monitor i had. In the end I went for a low specification monitor to guarantee it worked.
It was something like Non-Interlaced 1024x768 at 60hz 800x600 at (something)hz
Sadly its the config I have stayed with (unable to find a better one that works)

Thanks very much for your advice. But I still can configure my video card. I am currently using Asus V7100 series video card. the Xconfigurator failed to detect the video card. how can I configure the video card manually? Will it be much easier for me to solve this problem by upgrading the OS to R.H 7.2?

Some distros have a program called
SuperProbe that will identify the video
card.
The monitor setup part of Xconfigurator
has a list of Generic monitors that has
always worked for me. Possibly the video
card section has a - Generic - VGA or Super
VGA driver that will work for you.
