Cannot PING Outside Intranet/LAN

When I ping to a computer on the LAN (ex/ 192.168.30.30) with my Red Hat Linux 7.2 proxy server, I get fast response times.
But I can't ping to any IP address outside the LAN (ex/ 214.156.78.9). I've checked gateway and DNS, and it's set up with the same IP addresses as the Windows boxes (which work perfectly). Any suggestions as to what to troubleshoot next?
Did you check the subnet masks? If they are incorrectly set you won't be able to ping outside the network. Although it may actually be possible to access the internet.

Are you sure your proxy server isn't blocking access to the net? Are you running SQUID? (Also make sure you don't have an IP conflict on your LAN)
