Subject: Cannot boot after ghosting RH6.2
OS: RedHat 6.2.4
CPU/Ram: AMD Athlon XP 1800+/192MB
Comment:

Hi,
After ghosting a working RH6.2 from a SCSI harddrive to an IDE harddrive, I connected the drive to my AMD machine.
I used the lilo boot to overcome some minor known problems as following:
LILO: linux x86_serial_nr=1 mem=192M boot-/dev/hda root=/dev/hda1

Upon boot up I continue getting the Partitioning and VFS errors:
Partition check:
hda: driver not present
VFS: Cannot open root device 03:01
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:01

I assume all this is because the system used to load from /dev/sda1 (the SCSI drive) and now it is looking for an /dev/hda which is not configured well in the /etc/fstab file and more.

I cannot boot the OS, so cannot run /sbin/lilo nor update the fstab system configuration.
I have managed to change the fstab file to include all references to my IDE drive instead for the SCSI one but could not update the kernel with the new "knowledge".
How can I solve those problems?

Thanks!
