Hi,
I just wanted to ask you experienced programmers which book I could use to learn C programming. I'm a novice at this language and barely know anything about it. I'd be deeply gratified if you could furnish me with some infomation.
Thank you
Mike

Good luck :)
what ever you do.

Don't go there. VB is lame. gcc is the way to go!
About any book on C will do as long as it works for you. Personally, I like a book with a lot of example code to back up the theory. Using C++ by QUE was a good one back when Turbo C (DOS) was popular 8) DON'T buy a book written for Windows. It will NOT be portable. ANSI or POSIX C/C++ will be your best bet.
Note that C for DOS/Windows is very different(?) from C for Linux. The basics will be the same, but if/when you start making system calls, you need to know what you're doing. When the time comes, "Beginning Linux Programming" is a good starting point, but it assumes you understand the basics of C.
Notice that I'm saying C instead of C++. Start with C, then go C++. It'll help you out quite a bit. If your book covers C++ though, don't worry. It's all the same language. C++ is just a glorified preprocessor anyway. 8P
