I downloaded mandrake 8.3. I downloaded all 3 ISO image files and I burned them to disk using easy cd creator 5. and I made the disks bootable. My bios is set to boot from the cd-rom first. So why doesn't it work. Do I need to do something different during the burning process. I don't know......

It could be a lot of things but one that comes to mind is that the files could be corrupted when you downloaded them... Did you run the checksum on those files? By the way, if you can boot from a CD-ROM, then why do you need a bootable floppy disk?

well, the files are probably corrupted. After downloading ISO 1, I checked the size of the file and it says about 178 mb. I think its supposed to be about 650, right? the same goes for the other two...so is this a corrupted file? In my initial question I stated that I made the cd-rom disk bootable, I didn't mean that I created boot disks for the floppy drive.
It sounds like you definitely have some corrupted iso images, or the download wasn't completed. Also, don't worry about checking the option to make bootable. The iso image is setup to be bootable. Just choose to burn an image.
Good Luck!
Also, Mandrake is a fun distro so enjoy!
