Hello..

I just received my BT 5861 Router, to set it up on windows is a breeze (gateway and DNS setting to 192.168.254.254), but how do I get this to work in Linux RH 7.2.

I am able to ping it from Linux, I am even able to connect to it in NS (http: //192.168.254.254) and it says connected in green, so I know thats working, but I cant access any sites etc.. I am sure that I am overlooking something small, but what??

any help would be appreciated.

As no-one has replied to this yet, here's my thoughts. Why are your Gateway and DNS set to the same IP address? If you can ping your router are you sure DNS is set up correctly (i.e.Name resolution). Try to access a site directly through your browser eg...
HTTP:// (ip.address), does this connect? If so your problem is with DNS. What does your ETC/RESOLV.CONF read? Does it list any nameservers? I'm not familiar with Red-Hat since I use Mandrake, but there is usually a LAN configuration set up where you can manually input your IP, DNS server and router address. You can always add a secondary DNS server directly to RESOLV.CONF if need be. Hope this helps you
