I have 98SE and Mandrake on my primary harddrive (disk 1) and on my slave drive (disk 2) I have XP.
Lilo gives me the option of loading either 98 or Mandrake but how do I load XP
I have done this to the lilo.conf:
other=/dev/hdb1
label="Windows_XP"When I select it from the startup menu it says 'no operating system insert bootdisk'
How do I start XP?

In what order did you install the OSs?
Not that I have tried it myself, but I
would think that installing 98 then XP then
Linux should work fine.
At the lilo prompt you should then be able
to choose to boot either linux or windoze,
choosing the latter should then take you on
to the XP bootloader....from there you
should be able to boot either 98 or XP.

Thank you both for your replies. In this instance XP has been on the 2nd drive for ages in fact it already dual boots with Me which is on a primary drive that I substitute by means of harddrive docking trays.
When I use the tray which contains 98/Linux I have a Lilo menu which allows me to select between those two. What I wanted to do was add XP using the syntax I mentioned. It does not however find the boot sector (or whatever) which refers to XP and that is what I need to know.
In 95 days you could boot up with a DOS disk and then at the C:\ prompt type 'Win' and it would boot into 95... waht is the XP equivalent?

Win2k and XP will not run with linux unless it is on the FIRST partition. If you have WinME on your first partition (or disk) that's a different story. I tried different ways of making Win2k work with Redhat on first partition untill a friend who is a windows network consultant told me that it just wont work. I put windows on first partition and linux on second, no problems ...

I have a similiar problem.
I had XP running and used Partition Magic to create a linux partition, I installed linux and added XP to the lilo options. However, when I select WINDOWS it starts the XP splash screen but then brings up an error about not being able to find something, and then restarts. I'm afraid the partition may be "hidden" by partition magic, and I can't determine how to unhide it.
