Hi all,
I have two HD:s on my computer. Linux on one and Win2k on the other. Earlier I tried to install Suse linux on the other HD co-existing Win2k. It didn't work and Lilo didn't load, so I did on a Win98 boot disk: fdisk /mbr. It seems that it damaged the whole boot sector and after that Windows doesn't start up showing a message: ntldr is missing. What could I do?

Corel Linux installed fine so now I have it working. I tried that repair-option on Win2k:s CD, but it couldn't finish: Cannot copy file ntldr, ...ntdetect.com, ... arcsetup.exe, ...arccldr.exe.
So, can anyone help me!
Thanks
Patrik

It sounds like you overwrote your windows
2000 partitition. I could be wrong, run
FDISK and see if you do have your Windows
2000 Partition intact, and if so try to mount
it under Linux. If everything works fine,
you most likely have used the wrong settings
in boot.ini or in /etc/lilo.conf

I've literally just done the same installing Red Hat onto a second disk in my box (win2K on the other) and it corrupted the boot sector on the win2k disk as it was NTFS formatted.
You can use the Console 'c' repair tool from the win2k cd (there's a FIXPBS option) which worked fine for me. A straight 'r' repair on the boot sector did nothing useful.
My win2k is back up and running but now I need to find a way to dual boot?

Hi friends.
Yesterday, i made almost the same .
I had a dual boot instalation , win2k and win98se.
Then I installed linux.mandrake in a new partition, installed GRUB and all worked fine, but ..
When i run,a boot option windows appears, showing me linux and windows.
When i choose windows, dual boot win2k appears, booting win98se works, but win2k does not work.
I have partitions.
Inside linux, all partitions look good.
How can i get win2k to boot fine ?
Thanks.

Its always wise to make a copy of the MBR when the system is stable before installing or making any major changes.
I found a great little program called MBRWork
(I think I got it at www.bootdisk.com).Having experimented with the best way to have 2 OS coexisting in one drive (Win98 and Linux) the backup proved very helpful.
In my opinion, the easier and safer way to boot Linux is with Loadlin which in turn boots LiLo but won't change the MBR.
