First, I know that some linux distro can be run from a USB thumbdrive and my computer supports booting form usb devices but I have several questions about that.
1) I din't have a thumb drive but I do have a 128mb sd card and a SD card reader. Will taht be able to work the same way?
2) Assuming it will work what Linux distro can i put on it? (I wanted Knoppix but taht is way to big for a 128mb card. Maybe DSL? I would like a GUI.)
3)Will i be able to customize Linux yet still beable to run it on multiple computers without a problem?

You can customize knoppix to make it smaller. There is a howto for that available it the site. Or you can make your own system, ie. compile everything yourself. Too boot from a usb-drive your mobo needs to support it.
