1 comp. 2 HD. hda XP hdb FC3. Tired of messing up my hda MBR. Want to boot Fedora from CD. Too big for floppy. Think prob is ldlinux.sys. I tried CD & get error can't find ext3 fs on hdb2. Also some 'pivot root' errors. "Try passing 'init=' to kernal. That's like XP telling me to consult my administrator. Except for /boot the fs is /dev/Vol00/LogVol00 & partition magic calls it type 8E. Sure would be grateful for any ideas. At the moment I've got grub in hda mbr & works fine, but I'd sure like to solve this one. I'll bet I'm not the only one either.

why are you messing with your MBR?
I never modify my MBR and I have 5 or 6 OS's installed (Win ME + 5 linuxes).I put my boot manager (lilo) on diskette and boot from diskette. If I take out the diskette,
the bios select the hda MBR, which is Windoze only. The boot diskette is also for recovery - It contains a vmlinuz. And, i also copy the partition table from all my hard drives onto this diskette.
When I install, or recompile the kernel, copy
current diskette, modify the copy.

I don't want to mess w/ my mbr, but I can't fit vmlinuz & initrd on a floppy. I'd like to know how you do what you say, like putting partition table on floppy. Doesn't lilo use vmlinuz & initrd? Using mkbootdisk, FC2 fit on a floppy, but they didn't update that prog for FC3. That's where ldlinux.sys is screwing up. It's still the same as for FC2, but FC3 has changed. Is lilo so different?
