Okay, here's a riddle for you gurus. How is it possible to get mstsc.exe along with a small program to correctly function on a computer that has no hard drive?

--The computer has to meet minimum requirements (Set your own)
--CD-ROM is available to boot from
--Of course, mstsc.exe is running, so there has to be network support, and to beat it into the ground, it has to be reachable from outside the network
--The "small program" has to be run with Windows compatibility
--There is no need for a mouse, visual support, etc. Think of a closed laptop serving a simple website that uses less than 17 colors.

Please explain what you're actually trying to do rather than asking us to explain how to do it the way you think it should be done.

What is mstsc.exe? I'm guessing it may be "MicroSoft Terminal Server Client"...if so you can use rdesktop instead which I think is included with knoppix. Does your "small program" work with wine?

You could use the UltimateBootCD for Windows or a BartPE build.

I know this is the linux forum and, yes, you could use rDesktop on a linux boot CD to connect to remote WindowsXP machines, but you might have a better shot with your "small program" on actual windows from a CD

Hmm, but then I read you want "no mouse" which means you want to control this Harddriveless machine remotely, not the other way around.

MSTSC.exe is the client. You want to run the server.

I don't think you can do that using Windows Remote Desktop. I don't think the RemoteDesktop server runs on UBCD4Win or BartPE and it definately doesn't run on linux.

However, Knoppix includes a VNC server and you might be able to get TightVNC or RealVNC running from a BartPE or UBCD4Win disk.
