Hello and thanks for any the answer, I have a 533mhz with 256mb ram 20gig hard drive 15gig running w2k auto log on dose not require a password (home computer) Any ways I installed Mandrake on to the remaining 5gig now when I reboot I get the Linux screen counting down 20 sec. to boot Linux is at the top I would like to have NT at the top. I am using the dual boot so I can learn Linux so far I am just stumbling through but I definitely need NT to boot first for the rest of the family.

You only need to modify the file /etc/lilo.conf.
You will find a statement "default=linux" in it.
Just change the linux to the Windows label.
For example "default=windows"
Hope it helps.Cheers

Thank you Thank you that was a great start although I am a new bee I figured vi to edit and i for input and I think Esc (tell me it I am wrong) to stop editing and Ctrl z to exit and save? Close or no cigar and thanks for your time helping the new kid

i love vi (vim actually) but i would rather use mcedit, nano or joe as a newbee. you can spend the other half of your life learning vi commands :)

someone over at redhat decided not to include pico in the 8.0 release (at least not in the normal install, and i still dont know what package it was in), so while trying to edit my XF86config file i had to take a crash course in vi. (highly recommend you download nano). anyway my very short list of commands that was stuck up on my desk for a while.
i (insert) Use arrow keys to insert point, press i, then type changes or delete using “delete” key
Esc (escape from inserting) Press escape to not edit anymore
:q (quits) literally type colon q to quit without saving changes :q! forces quit???
ZZ (save and exit) Holding shift press z twice. Saves and exits without confirmation
:help (help) Not very helpful hence this list.

MrWizard,
you can also set the default OS by running the following command ( in an xterm):
lilo -D windows
i.e if the label for your Windows is windows.
Hope this will help.
