Hi,
I am new to Linux X windows. I installed Linux 7.3, selected console as default for login and then after loggin in I typed uppercase X and now I see a screen with mouse pointer shown as x. I do not see anything else going on with hard drive. What should I do to get to console again?

To get back to the console, press
ctrl-alt-bksp. This kills X. X just tests
the Xserver. You may want to try startx or
gdm, kdm etc.

no this is wrong!

you dont ned to kill X to get back to the console;
use ctrl + alt + F1 (F1-F6) to access the consoles again.

> X just tests the Xserver

this is wrong too. X is the Xserver. but if you start it without a window manager or any programs this is what it looks like.
