Hi, i have one HDD of 40GB, but my BIOS just detect 33.6gb of it. I tried to upgrade my BIOS, but sadly i have the newest version. And i want to install SuSe 6.2 in it. In the installation wizard of suse, it detects only 33.6gb too. So, do i have an alternative if i dont want to change my mainboard?

I am struggling with this same problem as we speak. I have not been able to make this fix work on my machine, but maybe you will have a different result:
WARNING: I accept no responsibility if this doesn't work! If you are supporting a business environment, I recommend you go elsewhere for help. The instructions say that this won't work on UNIX systems. and that is consistent with my result (I tried to set up a single hard drive configuration- jumpering the hard drive did not cause the BIOS to recognize the drive). Therefore it is up to you whether you want to waste any further time on this. The instructions do say, however, that this can work if you use the software that comes with the disk and are installing a Windows OS.
That being said:
If you are using a Western Digital Enhanced IDE hard drive, the instructions on page 36 indicate that you can work around early bios limitations by jumpering two sets of pins. According to these instructions, if you are setting up a single hard drive only you would jumper both 4 and 6 (Master and Slave) at the same time. If you intend to set the new drive up as a master this would change to jumpers 2 and 6 (CSS and Master). If you intend to set the new drive up as a slave this changes to jumpers 4 and 2 (CSS and Slave).
Good luckEH
