clamav is a very nice scanner that can be run as a daemon. i have also read about "scannerdaemon" but i dont know if it is good.
you should know that most linux anti virus software is designed to scan files for windoze virii since there are few linux virii in the wild. if you want to make sure your box hasnt been compromised you might want to use chkrootkit.

There aren't really any viruses on Linux that are worth speaking of. There are even fewer virus scanners for Linux. The system structure of Linux pretty much prevents viruses unless you go around running random binaries when logged in as root.
