Always eager to get in the first word, I'd like to suggest mplayer for your movies, it works best from the command line and has a simple keyboard interface, it evey plays some really badly copied movies pretty well, to know the ones where the audio and video aren't in sync, sometimes it fixes it. I haven't used it for internet broadcasts. check out http://www.mplayerhq.hu/

For audio I'd suggest xmms, if you're fresh from windows you're probably familiar with winamp, xmms has a similar interface. www.xmms.org

If you have Red Hat 8 it should have come with xine. If not it's also good, at xine.sourceforge.net. Ogle is also good for DVD movies, as it supports menus.

Thank you guys for the advices,I will install mplayer and xine, hope it wont be that hard.....I still need a plyer that plays the streaming medias on the net.I wanted to install the real player linux version but I did read on some forums that it still have too many bugs....but may be I will try it anyway.....
Another question: if I dont like some soft I installed, could I uninstalled just by deleting its folder or how does it work in linux? I dont want to mess up the clean installation I just had by leaving files in some system folders
thank you guys again for the help.
