Comment:

hi, i am trying to compile bash-3.0 from scratch. i un-tar.gz and go into the dir, issue these commands:
#export CC="gcc-mcpu=i386"
#./configure --enable-static-link \
--enable-minimal-config \
--host=i386-pc-linux-gnu
#make

is well up to the make. i run make and it shoots some lines up on the screen, indicates

Beginning Configuration for bash-3.0 ...

and continues making for about forty seconds
and back to the line

Beginning Configuration for bash 3.0...

and just keeps rolling on endlessly.
any thoughts will be helpful. thank you.

Make sure the version of autoconfig installed is equal to or greater than the requirement of bash.
