Comment:

I was curious to what would be the best linux distribution for a pentium 100 laptop that will be set up as a web server. I would like to have as small of an operating system as possible with only the necessary hard ware information.

I have considered Damn Small Linux, though I have heard that since it is a Knoppix Live CD distribution it is not designed to be installed on a hd partition.

Thanks in Advance,

DSL was not designed to be HD installed, but it does run ok as a HD install.

FreeSCO fits onto a floppy and offers a webserver as well as ssh, ftp, dns, dhcp, ntp and print servers. It can be used as a router and a bridge and requires a 386sx with 8mb of ram.
