Hi.

My problem is that the download and upload speed drops from normal to zero after I have used azureus for about 10 minutes. If I restart azureus the speed is normal again for a while until it suddenly dropps to zero again. The problem shoulden't have anything to do whit my internet connection because I have friends that use the same connection whitout problems under windows.
Anyway I read somewere that azureus is a java built program and that I need atleast the 1.5 version of java installed for azureus to work properly. Since Im a newbee to linux/fedora, im not sure how to check my version and update java. Is it possible to do this with yum??

Thanks for any solutions to my problems
Matte

I do not use Fedora here, so I do not know
if the current version of Java is available
from the Fedora mirrors. Since Java is not
open source, even though it is free for the
download, I think it's unlikely.

I do know you can download a java rpm file
from sun here .

You have to click the "accept" radio button,
then you can download the 'linux rpm in a
self extracting file' to your home
directory.

After you get it, open a terminal window and enter:

"chmod +x jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586-rpm.bin" (no quotes) to make the file executable.

Then to extract the rpm file, enter:

"./jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586-rpm.bin" (no quotes).

Finally, you should have an rpm file in your
home directory which can be installed with
the package manager of your choice.

Nearly forgot, after you run the command to
extract the rpm file, you will have to
accept the terms of use.
